Florence
Justice and Efficiency Model
Florence Justice and Efficiency Model - the founding model of the Florence Project - is a unique legal service system designed to provide access to justice for detained people. The Model conducts rights presentations, educates people on the court process, supplies “Know Your Rights” materials, and provides legal representation to adults detained in Florence for immigration purposes. In operation since 1989, this Model is congressionally recognized and nationally known.
Eloy
Pro Se Model
Eloy Pro Se Model – established in 1998 and based on the Justice and Efficiency Model - stresses client empowerment, autonomy, and self-representation. It includes a screening of FIRRP’s “Know Your Rights” video; live rights presentations; guided pro se preparation, materials and workshops; and pro bono referrals. The Eloy Model received the 2001 Peter F. Drucker Award for Nonprofit Innovation.
Detained
Immigrant and Refugee Children's Initiative
Detained Immigrant and Refugee Children’s Initiative – created in 2000 - educates, empowers and provides legal assistance to children detained by
ICE in Arizona. The Children’s attorney conducts rights presentations and pre-court counseling sessions, holds individual interviews, recruits pro bono attorneys and represents all detained children. The Initiative also engages with the Arizona State Bar’s Children’s Advocacy Committee that campaigns on behalf of detained children.
Integrated
Social Services Program
Integrated Social Services Program – first implemented in 2001 - offers supportive social services for detained individuals to better navigate the immigration removal process. The Program addresses and alleviates individuals’ psychosocial needs, supports legal requests for release and relief from deportation, encourages family involvement, and helps create a reintegration road map for adults released from immigration detention.
Women's
Model
Women’s Model – in operation since 2001 - addresses the gender-specific needs of detained women in Florence. The Model provides innovative group workshops, specialized supportive services, and legal counsel.
